Noted in The Noise

The April edition of
The Noise features a review of THG's latest opus, "Bailout!" Notably, the reviewer calls the CD "highly inappropriate" and "wholly entertaining." We couldn't agree more.

The Hammond Group Executive Leadership is pleased to announce that THG's next album will arrive soon. Called Bailout!, the album features a number of Hammond favorites, including "You Touched It," "Goodbye, Theresa," "Love Me Tonight," and "Scratch Ticket King." Final mixing and mastering will be completed soon, and Bailout! should arrive by the end of the year.

Watch for a CD release party in early 2010.

Cantab Update

The Club-Bohemia website has been updated to include our October 17 show, and things have changed. What once looked like a night of music by kindred spirits (that is, middle-aged men playing punky pop) has metastasized into a predictably schizophrenic evening of oddly matched musicians. Ah, so very, very Cantab.

Here's the lineup:

Date(s): Saturday, October 17, 2009
Hammond Group,
Callous Stars, Last Ones, Reign Lee

W.H.A.T. happened

The Hammond Group is pleased to report that our "legitimate" theater debut went quite well, thank you. THG performed three tunes - and a surprise cover song with guest vocalist Eric Martinson - during closing night of the Happy Oyster Spectacular Show at the Wellfleet Harbor Actors Theater (W.H.A.T.) on Cape Cod.

Now that that's over with, we will return to more familiar terrain, namely Club Bohemia, on October 17. See you there.

Hammond events confirmed

The Hammond Group is pleased to announce the confirmation of two upcoming musical events:

THG will be the featured performer on the final performance of the "Happy Oyster Spectacular" on August 23 at the Wellfleet Harbor Actors Theater ("WHAT") in Wellfleet on Cape Cod. The variety show combines live sketches with video and a different musical performer each week. Check it out.

THG returns to Club Bohemia (Cantab-down) on Saturday, October 17. Joining us will be the Port Charles Quintet (members of the Prime Movers) and the Last Ones. THG goes on at midnight. Should be fun.

Thank you for your patronage

The Hammond Group Executive Leadership Team would like to extend a heart-felt "thanks" to everyone who came down to Club Bohemia last night to see THG along with Stand Up Triple, Jesus & the Argonauts, and The Shadows Smile. An eclectic group of bands entertained an eclectic group of fans.

We were moved. Hope you were, too.

Hammond news roundup

Big doings in the Hammond world this week. First, our new album, "Mean Business" received a favorable, yet oddly edited, review in The Noise. Although we don't know what "optical musical solutions" are, and we're pretty sure we're not living in the "twentieth first century," the reviewer seemed to be buying our act. We're grateful and humble. Thanks, Noise.

Also, songs from "Mean Business" have been turning up on WMFO's Wednesday night show "On the town with Mikey D." Thanks for the exposure, kids.

Meanwhile, our next show has been confirmed. We'll be playing at Club Bohemia (Cantab Lounge, downstairs) on Friday, February 27 at 10:00 PM. Details to come.

Hammond on the air

The Hammond Group's aggressive public outreach strategy has resulted in several successful media opportunities over the past few weeks. "Volunteer for America" was played on WBCN's "Boston Emissions" show and WFNX's "New England Product" program, and "Hazmat" was heard on WMBR's "Late Risers Club." Both songs are from our new CD, "Mean Business." What's more, our Christmas song "Ho!" was heard on all three shows.

Thanks for the exposure, everyone.
